Live Illustration at York Culture Awards 2018
York is a city of beauty, talent and heritage, so it’s no surprise they have their own Culture Awards evening, hosted by Make It York. York Culture Awards is an annual celebration of the city’s best cultural and arts organisations and events. We were so excited to be invited to record the event through the power of illustration.
Illustrations were created spontaneously whilst watching the event live at the York Theatre Royal. Some lucky participants also had the chance to take their portraits home to treasure.
On the night, we took photographs of our illustrations and then shared them to social media to engage audiences at home. All illustrations were drawn on backgrounds designed by Buttercrumble. Here are a selection of the drawings (photographs and scans):
Make It York did such a wonderful job of awarding the excellence in the arts and culture sector! Heres a huge thank you to them for planning the event and for embracing Buttercrumble’s illustrations.
